As a baby Cung Le fled Saigon in his mother's arms aboard one of the last Army choppers to lift off of the US Embassy, was relocated to a refugee camp, and ultimately settled in the United States. He proudly served three terms as Captain of the United States Kung Fu Fight Team and is the reigning United World Light Heavyweight San Shou Kick Boxing Champion. On December 15, 2001 Cung won by unanimous judges vote to become the International Kick Boxing Federation Light Heavyweight World Champion.

He was named as "San Shou Kung Fu's Top Fighter" by Black Belt Magazine, January, 2001.
